Studio 163 is a London-based architecture, design and research practice particularly interested in the fields of housing, urban design, community projects and illustration.
Prior to founding Studio 163, we developed experience through established practices in France, Italy, Spain and the UK delivering a wide range of schemes from housing schemes to international schools, offices, hospitality spaces as well as cultural buildings and are using this expertise to our advantage to foster a diversity of projects within our own studio.
We like to approach a project by challenging our existing assumptions and tackle difficult sites with thoughtful responses.
We feel there is no minimum size of project in order to make it worthwhile, rather that the use of architectural methods should be applied on a much broader scale. At a fundamental level, design has the capacity to improve the wellbeing of society.
In order to keep ourselves exposed to wider disciplines we actively engage with those outside the usual client base to gain a better understanding in the fields of planning, graphic design or real estate. We like to collaborate with both the clients, other architects and makers to always be in a position to learn and experiment, producing building of quality and beautifully crafted spaces.
We also see the need to recognise the limitations of design and in doing so unlock the creativity and knowledge found among existing communities and places.
